Kitchen progress

It is difficult to trim places that you can’t reach and so I had to do the trim work on the kitchen end-wall that would be rendered unreachable by the cabinets. The obvious places are the window trims for the two high-up windows but behind the end rafters and beams needed trim as well. With a roughly 1” gap between them and the wall it was impossible to paint but possible to see. Blocking from the beam/rafter back face to the SIP walls should have been installed before the SIPs were even placed but somehow that got left out and I’ve been trying to sort out a fix ever since.
Eventually it became essential and so I cut some fir strips to fill the gaps (or nearly fill them; it turned out to be pretty much impossible to do a precise job so I left a deliberate gap instead. It may get filled later) and with much grunting and cursing got them in place and secured. I decide to paint the bottom faces to match the walls instead of trying to stain to match the beams; it just seemed to looked better that way.

Trimmed rafter gap. That really is the same colour as the wall!
