Counter intelligence

Despite the snow - did I mention that before? - Bridget & I installed the laminate on the counters for the cooktop, sink and laundry areas and then installed the completed counters. Mostly it was plain sailing, though cutting the stuff was a little nerve-wracking as it was my first time. Formica is a weird blend of hard and fragile, difficult to cut with a knife but easy with sharp power tools and oddly easy to accidentally tear if you get it just so. The black basalt pattern we chose looks really neat when installed and goes very nicely with the Beechwood butcher block used for the other areas.

The little dots you see on the front edges are screws. Don’t worry, they won’t be visible when finished as there is a front edge strip to go on.
