More stair trimming - and stairwell lights

The round-the-stairwell trim is all fitted and only needs filler, sanding and painting.

Fir shelf, painted trim between sideboard and lower wall.

The sideboard is nearing completion as well, with the top complete except for some beech edging. We decided to make it match the kitchen worktops, so it’s Formica ‘slate basalt’ on a double thickness MDF core. With prior experience from the kitchen, this went together pretty smoothly and looks really neat. All wood tops were considered but didn’t seem right somehow and now the black ‘slate’ is in place we’re very happy.
The lights over the stairs have been waiting to be installed for many months and at last they’re in; with the landing in place the stepladders could actually safely reach high enough!
